To the Stars - April 2024

Greetings all Earth-bound parents, guardians, families, friends, and students of 1504,

April was a celestial celebration for our students, marked by a spectacular, nearly full eclipse that brought the IMSA community together under the partially-darkened sky. Equipped with eclipse glasses for safe viewing, everyone enjoyed a mid-day filled with themed snacks, refreshing drinks, and stellar tunes.

In a journey beyond our usual boundaries, RC Griffin led an expedition to the Adler Planetarium with IMSA's Astronomy Club, including several of our own stellar minds from 1504. The trip was a universe of learning and discovery.

Back on Earth, the residents of C wing celebrated their late but well-deserved victory in Wing Wars with a pizza party that was out of this world.

This April also brought the challenges and triumphs of PSAT and SAT testing, held in the main gym, where our students demonstrated their academic prowess.

Our boys' volleyball team showed their mettle across two tournaments and numerous games, celebrating victories and learning from hard-fought losses—true warriors of the court.

Amidst these cosmic events, our students navigated the vast universe of higher education during College Day. Pictured below, you’ll find Abo, Alex, Jayram, and Tristen exploring the many booths, each a star charting their own course through the galaxy of possibilities.

In the heart of 1504, the office remained our social galaxy. From lounging with Pikachu to sketching out laughter during games of Pictionary on our sequined pillows, it has been a focal point of joy, tears, celebrations, and studies.

As we orbit closer to the end of the school year, we reflect on the bright moments we’ve shared and the cosmic bonds we’ve strengthened. Every student's contribution has propelled us closer to the stars, and for that, we are immensely proud.
To infinity and beyond,
The 1504 Hall Team

Adapting and Accomplishing - March 2024

Hello to all parents, guardians, families, friends, and students of 1504,

We hope you had a lovely spring break and are ready to take on the final quarter of this academic year!

B wing and friends celebrated Aarav's birthday with cake and treats!

D Wing students enjoy an exciting gaming session

1504 B-wing and RC Cynthia

As a quick reminder, 1504 is down to having three RCs: RC Griffin (04 A-wing), RC Kylie (04 C-wing), and RC Ethan (04 D-wing). We are very thankful to RC Cynthia for all of the help and support that she has provided to our students and to our hall, and we wish her all the best in her new career!

Despite us being short staffed, please be assured that the 1504 RCs will remain just as attentive and available to the needs of our students as ever! To that end, despite not having an RC in the wing anymore, the students of 04 B-wing will be assigned to one of the remaining 04 RCs to serve as their interim RC, either until a new RC is hired for 04 or until the end of the school year.

Your Interim RC will take Cynthia's role, checking in on your academic and social progress regularly and always being available to assist you in any way you may need. Of course, you can also always come to the RC Office when it is open, and the RC there will be happy to help you in that moment. For parents and guardians, feel free to contact your student's RC using the email address provided if you ever need anything.

March Programming

Every Tuesday night, an hour is dedicated to our Residence Life Programming slot, where the IMSA RCs supplement the learning our students receive in the classroom with engaging programs on various life lessons and thinking exercises. Despite it being a busy month, March was no exception to our continued Res Life Programming, with the 04 RCs covering topics such as sustainable living at IMSA (led by one of our student leaders - Vignesh Tiruvannamalai), the qualities and challenges of a perfect world, and the administration of the Academy's Diversity Climate Survey.

Whether it be suggesting ways we can reduce waste in our everyday living in the residence halls, having a group discussion on larger societal issues preventing our ideal world from existing, or providing the Academy with insightful data on how we can better be a welcoming and inclusive environment for all people, our Res Life Programming slot continues to bolster the learning of our students in a more holistic and developmental way.

April Extended Reminders

Please remember that April Break is coming up at the end of the month, with the halls closing at 1pm on Saturday, April 27 and reopening at 3pm on Wednesday, May 1. Start planning for your student's departure and reach out to us with any questions at 04staff@imsa.edu.

We continue to cross our fingers for a glimpse of warmth during this unpredictable spring season
